5 Products You Must Carry In Your Bag During This Festive Season.

Hey guys! We hope you all are having a great weekend.

This is the last post of the festive series. Thank you so much for the positive response, we will surely be back with more posts like these.

Carrying a stylish bag with your outfit is a must but sometimes it does not have enough place for most of your makeup products, thus making you decide which products to carry and which to leave behind. Well, don't worry in todays post we will tell you about the 5 must have products which will easily fit in your bag.

 Compact

Compact is one of the most essential products in your makeup kit. It helps you set your base and get a matte finish.Pressed powders are the best option as they are not messy and can be easily slipped into your bag.

Maybelline White Superfresh 12 Hour Whitening + Perfecting Compact retailed at Rs.150 .It is  super smooth, light and has a nice fragrance. It helps you get an even base without applying too many layers. This is a pretty slim compact and very travel friendly. It lasts for a long time and does not feel heavy at all.
You can check the complete review of this product here -

Kabuki Brush

It is a small fluffy brush which can be used to apply compact or loose powder. You need to dab the brush in the compact and just swirl it on your face. It provides light coverage and evenly spreads the powder, without making your face look caked up.The kabuki brush is so small and sleek that it will easily fit into your purse.
I have an H&M kabuki brush, which is very soft and dense. It easily spreads the powder and does not leave any strokes on my face.
You can buy the PAC brush in the number 400 which costs Rs 850.

Kajal or Mascara

This festive season is a great excuse to take your makeup routine a notch up. Intensify your eyes with some kajal or mascara. They are two simple options which can help you get a dramatic look.

The Lakmé eyekonic Kajal which retails at Rs. 275, lasts long and does not smudge at all. It is pigmented and gets applied in one stroke itself. It is available in Black, Royal Blue, White , turquoise and grey.  The black kajal works best when you want a smokey or dramatic eye, however you can experiment with some blue and grey as well.

The L'Oreal Paris Kajal Magique which retails for Rs. 285 is one of the best kajals. It is super dark and smooth. Just like the Lakmé Eyekonic kajal, it lasts long and does not smudge. It is available in one one shade- black.
Both these Kajals are really good and something i recommend.

The Maybelline Volum Expess Falsies retailed at Rs. 500 is one of my favourite mascaras. It defines and curls your lashes without any clumps. It is available in black, is waterproof and lasts long. It highlights your eyes as it provides length and volume to your lashes.

Swatch of L'Oreal Paris Kajal Magique & lakme eyekonic kajal

Lipstick
Your festive look will be incomplete without that perfect lipstick, and what better than a red lipstick. Red lipsticks go well with most indian outfits and always stand out. Matte or glossy, red lipsticks are always a good pick. They stand out among all and add an extra touch to your look.

The NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick retails at Rs 475. The shade Fire Incendie is a great pick for this festive weekend. It   is pigmented, super smooth and gets applied in one go. It feels pretty light and has a slight shine which would go really well with your outfits.
For the complete review of this product have a look at one of our previous posts- http://compactmatters.blogspot.com/2016/06/nyx-is-coming-to-india.html

Mini perfume
With all this dressing up, heavy outfits and family functions a perfume is a must. The few sprays applied just before leaving the house don't always last the entire evening thus carrying one in your bag helps a lot . Fitting a full sized perfume in your bag may be difficult so i would suggest you carry a mini perfume. It won't take much place, will be pretty light and will serve its purpose.

Well, thats all for this post. We will be back with a new post soon.  Do follow our Facebook post for regular updates  https://www.facebook.com/compactmatters/

5 Products Under Rs.500 To Help You Look Your Best This Festive Season.

Hi guys! Hope you all are doing great! Thank you for all the love you have given to the festive season series.

Trying to look your best can be a little heavy on your pocket during the festive season. However you don’t need to be worried. Compact Matters is here to your rescue. We have come up with a list of 5 products to help you glam up your look for the festive season.

PAC Pure Pigmented Eyeshadows retail for Rs.250 each. They are highly pigmented and perfect for this festive season. Since they are individually sold you can choose exactly the colour that go well with your outfit. An overall wash of only one colour is also more than sufficient to make your eyes pop. You do not need any brushes for these eyeshadows too. They apply well with your fingers as well. I have them in 12 and 16. If you would like to see the look I create with these for Diwali, follow me on my Instagram.

Swatches of PAC Pure Pigmented Eyeshadows in 12 and 16

Incolour Matte Me Lip Creams retail for Rs.200.These are dupes for the Sleek Matte Me lip creams. They have an amazing formula and dry totally matte within a minute. They have a variety of shades. However I love the shade 415. It is my go to colour when I do not have time to think and is always in my bag. I would prefer these over the Miss Claire lip creams that are also very popular.

Sivanna Colors Shimmer Brick retails for Rs.350. A lot of brands have similar shimmer bricks like Bobbi Brown and Revlon. However at less than half the price, the Sivanna Shimmer Brick does exactly the same thing like any of them. You can use it as a highlighter, blush, bronzer or even eyeshadow. You can use individual shades, mix a few of them or just swirl your brush around all of them.It is available in a few shades that complement the Indian skin tone really well. This shade is 04.

L’Oreal Mat Magique Powder retails for Rs.400. It is available in 5 shades. For people who do not like wearing a foundation or a BB cream, this is the product they should go for. It provides reasonable coverage, has high longevity and helps your skin stay matte for long hours. The packaging is neat and it comes with a mirror and an applicator. The only downside of this product is that it has SPF 34 which may not photograph well.

Nykaa Nail Enamel retails between Rs.150 to 200 depending on the range. I absolutely love the Nykaa Nail Enamel. They have an amazing quality and a huge variety in terms of colour range. They do not chip off easily. They apply extremely smoothly. I personally own 17 of these and want to add some more colours to my collection. This shade is Lavender Drizzle. This product was recently awarded at the Elle Beauty awards as well.

5 Products Worth Splurging This Festive Season.

Hi guys! Hope you all are doing good.

The festive season is coming soon and I love this time of the year. It is just an excuse to pamper yourself and your loved ones. There are certain products that all of us have an eye on for a while and this season is the best rationalization we come up with to treat ourselves.

I have come up with a list of 5 items that are worth the splurge.

The NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Pallete retails for Rs.2000. This is a highly versatile pallete and has it 8 shades. It has 4 contour shades with which you can play around and create a contour of the intensity of your choice. You can also use these shades to give some depth to your eyes or just define your crease. It has 2 highlighting shades, similar in shade but different in intensity. It also has a setting powder and a banana powder, which works amazingly to set the under eye area. Even though this product is a little steep for a drugstore product, it is totally worth it and has been compared to some pricey high end palletes.

The Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate for Rs.3800 for 30ml.This product is magic in a bottle. It works for every skin type in every weather. It is a serum that repairs your skin and makes it glow.It has a neutral fragrance and the application is totally easy. You can check out our review on The Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate.

Benefit’s Porefessional Primer retails for Rs.2860 for 22ml. If you are having a good skin day, this product is all you need. Just a pea size amount of this product is more than enough to blur all your imperfections. The primer sets the base for your entire make up. Even when you have 10 layers of different products on your face, this primer ensures that your face does not look caked up.

MAC Lipsticks retail for Rs.1450. Ever since I was a little girl, I completely adored MAC lipsticks. MAC has a beautiful range of shades with amazing formulation. They have some classic shades that are must haves. Ruby Woo is classic red shade with blue undertones that can amp up a simple outfit.Velvet Teddy is a My Lips But Better shade that was made popular by Kylie Jenner way before her liquid lipsticks hit the market. However I find it a little pale for my skintone and prefer to use Mehr which has a slight pink tone to it. Snob is another classic shade which falls in between Velvet Teddy and Mehr.

Swatches of Velvet Teddy, Mehr and Ruby Woo. ( Top to bottom)

The Make Up Forever 5 Camouflage Cream Palette retails for Rs.3500. It includes 5 cream concealers with 3 colour correctors in salmon, lavender and mint green. Most of us have certain discoloured patches on our face that may or may not be permanent. This palette gives you a range of concealers that you can use to cover up any blemishes. If you want to know more about colour correcting, you check out our post. (http://compactmatters.blogspot.com/2016/05/colour-correcting-101.html)

That is all for this post. Hope you have a prosperous and green Diwali with your loved ones.

5 Tips To Look Your Best This Festive Season.

Hi guys! Hope you all are doing great!

The festive season is the best time to put on your glam game. There are lot of parties, lot of family gathering and lots of pictures. Everyone wants to look their best and Compact Matters is here to help you with that.

We have made a list of 5 tips that will help you look your best during this festive season.

Use a foundation or BB cream with low or no SPF.
Everyone likes taking pictures during the festive season. However a foundation with high SPF tends to show up awkwardly in pictures especially flash photography. Weird grey or white patches may appear in your pictures or your skin may appear more oily than it is. This can be avoided by using a foundation with SPF not higher than 20 or simply no SPF like the Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation.

Structure your face with some contouring.
During the festive season, even the best of us tend to gain a little weight due to all the lavish dinners and irresistible sweets. In such a scenario, a little contouring can take you a long way. Grab a contour powder or a powder which is 2 shades darker than your skintone and apply it gently across your jawline. It helps give your face some definition and hid that double chin.

Use a white/nude liner to look more awake.
The festive season seems a lot of late nights and that tends to take a toll on your eyes. However some white or nude liner on the inner corner of your eyes can help create the illusion of a good night’s sleep. You can do use eyeshadow as well but then it must be blended into rest of your eye make up.

Blot your lipstick for it to stay all night.
With all the food and drinks during the festive season, your lipstick will wear off sooner or later. However while applying the lipstick, if you blot it with tissue, that is put a thin tissue between your lip and press them against each other, it tends to stay much longer. I also like to apply some powder on my lips after blotting to keep the lipstick matte. Some people like to do this through the tissue paper but I prefer to do it directly with my fingers. You can then simply re-apply the lipstick.

Never sleep with make up on.
There are no exceptions to this rule. I know Diwali late nights can get really exhausting but sleeping with make up on is abusing your skin. It does not matter if it is only some lipstick or kajal, you must remove all the make up. If your make up remover is over, use some coconut oil. Just this simple tip will help you look amazing the next day as well. Otherwise all the concealer in the world can not save you.

That is all for this post. Let us know below in the comments if this post is going to help you look your best this Diwali.Hope you have a prosperous and green Diwali with your loved ones.

Innisfree Haul, Korean Skincare.

Hey guys! Hope you all are doing well.

In this week’s post, I will be sharing a haul from the Korean skincare brand, Innisfree. It is a naturalism oriented brand which also have their own small range of makeup.

They have their stores in Delhi and Mumbai. A month ago, I visited their store in Phoenix Market City, Kurla and picked up a few products along with which I received a few samples. I couldn’t resist visiting their store again and picked some of their best seller products. However I will be doing an individual reviews on the products I picked during my second visit. In today’s post, I will be only taking about the products and samples from the first visit.

The Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask in Tea Tree
If you have been reading Compact Matters for a while, you know we love Tea tree products. This product is basically a sheet mask and they have a number of variations in this range. There are different types of sheet masks that help address different skin concerns. They are pretty reasonable and range for Rs.100 to Rs.150. I obviously went for the Tea Tree variant which helps fight acne. When I used the mask mid examination, my acne break outs settled in 2 days.

The Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose Pack
This product includes 6 nose strips that help getting rid of black heads. They retail for Rs.250. Each strip is individually packed and must be applied on a wet nose. You must keep the strip for around 15 minutes or until the strip completely dries up and gently remove it upwards. What I like about these strips is that they are malleable onto the shape of your nose and are not too stiff.

The Innisfree Capsule Recipe Pack
Just like their sheet masks, Innisfree does a range of face packs available in capsules. These are not available in bigger sizes. They have different variants for different skin concerns and range from Rs.120 to Rs.200.These can be used around 2-3 times and can be easily sealed again. I picked the Bija & Tea Tree and Rice variants. The Bija & Tea Tree mask help fight acne and protect the skin. The Rice mask is a night mask that helps repair skin.

The Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask is the ultimate favourite of Innisfree. This is the first product that comes to mind when one talks about Innisfree. I have not had the chance to try this out yet but I am really excited.

The Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum and Cream are antioxidants that help the skin look healthy and dewy.

The Innisfree Orchid Enriched Cream has properties of anti- ageing cream as it prevents wrinkles, protects pores, helps keep the skin firm, improves skin tone and nourishes the skin.

The Innisfree Eco Safety No Sebum Sunblock contains SPF 35 with PA+++ with sunflower oil and green tea. This is without a doubt the product I have been using the most out of them all. A sunblock is extremely important. However I can not stand the smell of most sunblocks. This product is comparatively very fresh and does not feel heavy on the skin. I will definitely be purchasing a bigger tube soon.

I suggest that if you visit the Innisfree store, you join their membership reward program as you receive their best loved collection along with it which includes the Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask, Green Tea Serum and Orchid Enriched Cream.

Sadly I haven’t had the chance to try their make up collection. The next time I would love to get my hands on their Cushion Foundation and their Lip Tint.

Nykaa's The Beauty Lab.

Hi guys! Hope you all are doing great.

In this week’s post, I will be unboxing Nykaa’s The Beauty Lab.

Recently Nykaa came up with their beauty bag which had 7 products from skincare, haircare and makeup for an amazing price. This is one of India’s first beauty bags. This concept is relatively popular in the west.In today’s post, I will give you my views on The Beauty Lab and help you decide if it is worth your money.

Price
The Beauty Lab contains products worth Rs.1600 for Rs.800 which seems like a tempting deal.

Packaging
The products come in a transparent pouch with Beauty Lab and Nykaa logo.

Products
Island Kiss Alma Vanilla and Inges Lavender Lip Moisturiser is the product I was excited about.I received this product in full size. I have been using it for a week and totally loving it.It is a great option use under your drying matte lipsticks. It retails for Rs.400 and is 100% organic.

Kronokare All Is Well Shower Gel in Provencal Lavender is a product that really surprised me.I personally hate floral smells but I can not get enough of this product. It contains thyme oil which has an amazing smell and is paraben and mineral oil free. However the size of the product is little disappointing. Once I am done with this bottle, I might consider re-purchasing a bigger size.

Wella Professionals Oil Reflections is a product for all smoothening of all hair types. I feel it is too soon to comment if this product works for me.However the size of the product is good and has a mild fragrance.

Kama Ayurveda Rejuvenating &  Brightening Ayurvedic Night Cream contains coconut milk, goat’s milk, saffron, cardamom and sesame oil. It works for dry and combination skin. It comes in a tiny tester tube. However if I feel the product works for me, I can call for a full size of the product.

Nykaa Nail Enamel in Lychee Delight is a grey nail paint. I love this range and have a massive collection already. Nykaa Nail Enamels have one of the best formulas I have tried and I only wear their nail paints. Comment below and let me know if you are interested in a review of their range. The day after I ordered my The Beauty Lab bag, Nykaa changed the shade from Lychee Delight to Rose Sherbet which is a beautiful pink.

Bharat & Dorris Mini Lip Gloss in 05 is the most disappointing product of The Beauty Lab bag.I am not a fan of lip glosses in general and this shade it too light for my skin tone. I will probably use this over a bright red lipstick because the texture is smooth.

All Good Scents Love and Joy EDP for Women comes in a tiny vial without a cap. Thus it can not be carried along easily. Also like I mentioned I am not a fan of floral smells. I feel they could have just kept this product out of the bag and it would not make a difference.

My Verdict
Overall I feel this bag was worth the money. I tried quite a few products that I would not have purchased otherwise and I am probably going re-purchase a few products like Island Kiss Alma Vanilla and Inges Lavender Lip Moisturiser and Kronokare All Is Well Shower Gel in Provencal Lavender. I hope Nykaa makes this a regular or monthly thing and they add more make up products in it.

That is all for this post. Hope you liked it. We would really appreciate your feedback. For regular updates, follow our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/compactmatters/

Miss Claire Artist Pen Eyeliner Review

Hey guys, hope you guys are doing well.

Miss Claire has been in the market for years but I started using the products only a year back.
Miss Claire is  known for its soft matte lip creams which are dupes for the NYX lip creams.  Apart from these, they have a variety of products ranging from primers to eyeliners and today I will be reviewing the Artist Pen Eyeliner.

Name
Miss Claire Artist Pen Eyeliner Silky Tip for thin and thick lines

Price
  200 Rs. For 1 ml

Colour
Black

Packaging
It is packed in a bluish silver pen like case.
It contains some details like the name, colour and some manufacturing details.

Fragrance
It does not have any fragrance.

Longevity
Once applied, the product stays dark and intense for a good 6-7 hours. It dries up pretty soon and does not smudge. However, after a few hours it does get rubbed off easily and is not waterproof.

 Pros
The colour intensity is good
You can make thin lines as well as thick lines, and the fine tip helps you ace the wing
It is really light and sleek, thus making it travel friendly
Budget friendly

Cons
It is not completely waterproof and gets rubbed off easily after a few hours
The expiry date is not mentioned

Overall it is a nice liner, it applies pretty smoothly and is dark and intense. It is a good option for a casual day out or to college. However, I would not pick this for a special occasion or important function.

This is all for todays post.
Do let us know if you would like us to review any particular products.

Lakmé Clean Up Face Mask with Green Tea Extracts Review

Hey guys!
We are back with a new post and today we will be reviewing the Lakmé Clean Up Face Mask with Green Tea extracts.

It is a part of the 3 step clean up pack.
The first two steps include the Face wash and face scrub.
Following the face scrub is the Lakmé Face Mask.

Packaging
It is packed in a simple green plastic tube. It is small in size and not too heavy thus making it very travel friendly.

Price
Rs.110 for 50g

Directions
Wet your face slightly and then apply a layer of the mask on your face and neck.
Keep it for a while and once it has dried up, wash it off with some water.

The mask has a smooth texture with a slight fragrance.
It washes away all the excess oils without making your face dry. It gets rid of the dirt and gives a slight glow to your face.
It takes 7-10 minutes to dry and a little amount of the mask can be used at once, thus one tube lasts for a really long time.

Pros
Easy on the pocket
Travel friendly
Slight fragrance, which is not too strong
Smooth and light texture
Contains green tea extracts, which soothes your skin

Cons
Slight tingling sensation, which can be overlooked as it is not much.

Overall I really liked this product. It serves the purpose and is pocket friendly too.
